PACT Online is designed to give students and families the flexibility to choose when and where learning happens. Attendance is based on participation in weekly coursework. This approach helps students stay on track with their learning, meet Minnesota attendance requirements, and stay eligible for school activities, athletics, fine arts, and other opportunities.

Attendance Notification

The Infinite Campus Attendance Notification System is compatible with both desktop computers and the mobile app. You must be logged into your parent account to submit a request. Email is an alternative option at oc-attendance@pactcharter.org. Each request is then manually processed by the PACT attendance office.

How Attendance Works at PACT Online.

Students are expected to complete at least four assignments for each scheduled school day to be considered present. For example:

  • Five-day school week = 20 assignments
  • Four-day school week = 16 assignments

Assignments may include:

  • Readings and comprehension checks
  • Discussions
  • Projects
  • Quizzes
  • Tests
  • Grade Checks (in Advisory)

The minimum number of assignments to be marked present sets the attendance expectation, but students are expected to complete all assigned coursework to earn their grade

Attendance Expectations

Students are expected to:

  • Submit coursework by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday of each week.
  • Check Schoology regularly for assignments, announcements, and teacher feedback.
  • Communicate with teachers when they need support or are unable to complete coursework due to illness or other reasons. Students can also connect with teachers weekly during Office Hours.

 

Partnering With Families:

Parents and guardians can support their student by encouraging them to work on their schoolwork daily, checking student progress in Schoology and Infinite Campus, and by contacting teachers when students have questions or concerns

Vacations Require Pre-Approval:

Please plan family vacations around the school calendar to help students stay on track with their learning. If that is not possible, vacations require prior approval from the administration. Please email oc-attendance@pactcharter.org and reference the vacation dates and how schoolwork will be completed. 

Excessive Absences:

Absences that are excessive and/or interfere with the student's educational program may be interpreted as truancy and may result in follow-up procedures. As a general guideline, 11 excused absences in a school year will be considered excessive (including those taken under the pre-approved vacation procedure). Parents/guardians need to be aware that if students are absent for 15 or more consecutive days, they may be unenrolled.

  • A regular attendance routine is important for your child’s well-being, learning, and long-term success. Below are tips to keep your child healthy and avoid unnecessary absences from school.

     

    How to Stay Healthy

  • Regular school attendance is essential for students' academic success. Because PACT has fewer instructional days than most Minnesota schools, attendance is even more essential for our students. Because PACT Online Campus coursework is all available on Schoology, attendance is expected.

FAQ

  • No. PACT Online allows students to complete schoolwork at times that fit their schedules. There are no required login times, but students must complete the weekly work in every class.

  • PACT Online is designed to be flexible. Students often complete coursework at different times throughout the week, including evenings and weekends.

    Because of this flexibility, attendance is based on participation in learning rather than the amount of time a student is logged into Schoology.

  • We recommend checking Schoology every day, but it is not required. Because PACT Online is flexible, attendance is not based on daily logins. Instead, attendance is based on completing weekly work in every class. Classwork will be posted at the start of each week.

  • Students are expected to complete four learning activities for each scheduled school day, or 20 activities during a typical five-day week.

    If a student completes only 18 learning activities during a five-day week and has no approved excused absence or accommodation, they will be recorded as having one unexcused absence for that week.

  • Parents or guardians should report the absence using the district's regular attendance process.

    Students who feel well enough may continue working in Schoology. If illness keeps a student from working, teachers will help set a reasonable timeline for making up missed weekly work.

  • Students with an excused absence are given additional time to complete any missed learning activities. As a general guideline, students will have the number of excused school days missed plus one additional school day to complete any missed coursework.

    Example: If a student has an excused absence on Thursday, they would have Friday plus one additional school day (Monday) to complete the missed learning activities.

    If a student experiences an extended illness or other extenuating circumstances, teachers may work with the student and family to establish a different timeline.

  • One of the benefits of PACT Online is flexibility. Students can complete their weekly coursework whenever it fits their schedules, as long as they meet the teacher’s deadlines.

  • Your student’s teachers are the first people to contact if you have questions about schoolwork or progress in class. For additional help, families may contact Tom Keefe, the Online Campus Coordinator.
